Current legislation requires employers to provide training to staff in the action to be taken in the event of a fire. Our Fire Safety Awareness Course is aimed to develop knowledge of fire extinguisher use, fire safety at work and appreciate human behaviour in response to a fire incident.
Designed for
The Fire Safety Awareness Course is aimed at all staff (particularly new employees) in all workplaces, to help them identify and reduce the risks from fire in the workplace.
Objectives
By the end of the course, students will understand the following principles:
- Human behavioural responses in fire emergency situations
- Basic principles of fire safety and fire protection
- Theory and operating principles of fire extinguishing equipment
- Practical use of fire extinguishers and general fire extinguishing equipment
- Means of escape and evacuation procedures
- Escape from fire scenario/presentation
Specialist training will be given to highlight particular fire risks and methods of fire prevention. These include instruction on the colour coding of fire extinguishers and which type is safe and appropriate to use depending on the fire source.
Every course is reinforced with videos and questionnaires to help delegates retain the information. As part of our course there are also practical use during which delegates are able to participate in extinguishing a number of controlled live fires (Waste Bin Fire, Flammable Liquid Fire, PC Monitor Fire, Toaster Fire and a Chip Pan Fire), using a range of different extinguishers - all supplied by us.
The course material and handouts are used in conjunction with current workplace fire safety legislation and guidance.
